CALCULATORCalculate soil bags, leftover volume and total cost with an optional allowance. Enter bag sizes in cubic feet, cubic yards or liters.
A useful soil estimate starts with the inside dimensions, the depth you plan to fill and the volume printed on the bag. Keep those measurements separate from the outside size of the frame.
PRACTICAL GUIDEMost round pots taper toward the bottom. Treating one as a cylinder using only its top diameter can overestimate the amount of potting mix you need.
PRACTICAL GUIDECompare the required volume and bag size in the same unit, then round up to whole bags. A weight printed on a package cannot be used as a volume without product-specific density.
PRACTICAL GUIDEBagged soil and bulk soil are often priced in different volume units. Convert them before comparing quotes or ordering a delivery.
